FEAR ME DECEMBER - BRAND NEW EP AND TOUR SET TO BE ANNOUNCED

Image
Rising Melodic metallers FEAR ME DECEMBER set loose their spanking new EP, Crystallized, through all platforms on Friday 7th September. FEAR ME DECEMBER are an accomplished Anglo-Argentinean quartet who were originally formed in 2012 by vocalist and bassist Victoria Cabanellas and Valentin Macagno. After receiving strong support for their debut EP, Who Cares, the band decided to relocate to England in 2014. Soon after, they delivered their debut album Between Violence and Silence. The record widened the heavy rocker's reach and fanbase, however FEAR ME DECEMBER were struggling with personnel. In 2017, after a lenghy search, the band recruited Tony Small on drums and Stuart Woolley on rhythm guitar. With a heavier sound and fresh impetus, the alternative rock crew began to reshape and craft an original set and pen tunes for their forthcoming new EP. The foursome were recently snapped up by Reaction Management ( Altered Sky) , and they have also just completed work on their f

End of Daze Interview

Image
1. What's the top 3 bands you've performed with? That is such a hard question. Genuinelly so diffuclt. We've played with so many great bands. Some that come to mind are bands like Griever, Saint (the) Sinner and Death Remains. We've got shows coming up with bands such as Hacktivist, The Royal, Of Virtue and InVisions, so that list could change. Who knows? 2. How has your writing process changed between the first and second album? We just as a whole got better. In every way, I think we just got better. The writing is far more mature, and releatable. You will struggle not to nod your head when a big riff hits. 3. When can we expect the second album to surface and what can we expect from it? Hopefully 2019. I know. It's taken AGES, but life gets in the way. You can expect to be blown away if you're expecting the second coming of Ascension. 4. How did you come up with the name End of Daze? There is no real story. It just kind of happened at a band m

WOLVES DON'T SLEEP - NEW TRACK AND VIDEO SET TO BE RELEASED

Image
Nottingham heavyweights, 'WOLVES DON'T SLEEP' offer a different edge to the Metalcore genre. With stout tones and immense drumming, framed by potent lyrics and commanding vocals, 'WOLVES DON'T SLEEP' hurl out their new single, Hope Won't Set You Free, on Friday 3rd August. Uncompromising and unstoppable, 'WOLVES DON'T SLEEP' first hit the scene in 2015, however, a revolving door of personnel hindered the band's trajectory. Now, with a settled and solid line-up, the ferocious quintet are set to take their formidable sound to the masses. They have just completed work on their new single, Hope Won't Set You Free, with Steven Jones (Bleed From Within, From Sorrow to Serenity), and the end result is simply huge. Burly riffs and pounding beats, the new track marks a shift  in direction for the band, and one that will be explored even more on their next record. Touring is also on the agenda for the Brit Bruisers. Already widely regarded

The Weight of Atlas

Image
The Weight of Atlas are a post hardcore band based between Edinburgh and Dundee in Scotland, UK. The band released their first EP 'Reflections' in 2015 via We are Triumphant. This release featured Garrett Rapp (The Color Morale, Fearless Records) and Cory Brunnemann (Through Arteries) which saw the band attract hundreds of thousands of streams and downloads across YouTube and Spotify. All the hard work of this EP really paid off as they soon later toured the UK 3 times over a two year period which is amazing as it shows how far they're getting in such a short space of time, and have also done their cover of Taylor Swift's 'Style' which sounds way better than the original. This band have some sick breakdowns, emotional and powerful lyrics and lively energy. They also have some harsh screams, heavy beats and low tuned guitars. This band really do show power and emotion in all of their songs and show their passion for their music in their live perfo

Altered Sky at Download Festival 2018

Image
Download Festival is the biggest rock festival in the UK with thousands of people attending it each year to see some of their favourite bands perform on the stages. Big and small bands are given the opportunity to perform at the festival each year. This year one of the smaller bands that are making it happen at Download this year were Glasgow rockers, Altered Sky who were excited to perform to a crowd of 3000 people with new and old fans in the crowd, waiting for their performance. Not many bands get an opportunity to perform at a massive festival like this so the band jumped at the opportunity. Altered Sky currently have an album out called ‘Without Wonderland’ and have been working on their second album which they said to be “darker and heavier” so we’ll wait for that and see if it sounds like how they promised! Lauren Em told us about Altered Sky’s performance at Download Festival at the Takeover stage and here’s what she said. “Altered Sky at Download fest

Fear Me December - The UK's next top band

Image
This band have done so much for themselves as a band that barely any bands would do. Fear Me December are originally from Argentina but moved as a band to Manchester which is a massive move. In a recent interview with Victoria she said; "It was hard when you think about leaving your family, your friends and everyone you love behind. But to be honest with you we were super excited, it was a major goal since we were teenagers, the idea of leaving somewhere else was like an adventure, we want it to take and yeah it was hard leaving everyone behind but it was a comfort to feel we were taking the right decision, and having each other to support us it was the last piece of the puzzle to take this step. We miss everyone every day so so much, but we made the right decision and we wouldn't change it" . Check out the full interview with the lovely Victoria here:  http://crossskullmedia.blogspot.com/2018/05/fear-me-december-interview.html This is the biggest decision I've

Female Drummers in The Rock and Metal Music Industry

Image
Drumming is something a lot of people are getting into. Males and females but there's not that many female drummers in rock and metal bands. There are however a lot of female drummers on YouTube posting covers such as Meytal Cohen and Kristina Schiano who really show what they can do. I interviewed a few female drummers about what it's like being a female drummer in the rock and metal music industry. Laura Cornall Who or what got you into drumming? When I first saw school of rock when I was 13 I knew I wanted to be involved in music but got into playing guitar instead of drums because my parents encouraged that more. Then I saw Jen Ledger smash it on the kit with Skillet at Download Festival I knew that's what I wanted to do so I came home and bought a kit! Do you there's enough female drummers in the rock and metal industry? Probaly not! Do you think females are put off from wanting to learn the drums? If so, why? I honestly don't know, maybe it

Scream Blue Murder Interview

Image
We recently done an interview with Scream Blue Murders vocalist Aaron Bloomer. Check them out here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjtZ3ykLUpM 1. How did you come up with the name 'Scream Blue Murder'? Scream Blue Murder is when you scream in protest. Or in Australia we found it means orgasm haha. 2. What's the most unusual experience you've had at a gig? The most unusual experience is we went to a fans house in Iowa after the show. They said it was only down the road but it ended up being 2 hours away in a cornfield! We got to hold their guns and explore the barn that looked like something out of the saw films. Nice guys though! 3. What was the best music video to film? I think so far for the cinematic reasons we are survivors but for the most fun I’d say restart rewind reset because for the whole thing I was drunk as f*ck!!!  4. You've recently signed to "Stay Sick", what does that mean for you all? The stay sic

Take Today gig review

Image
Take Today performed at The Cathouse Glasgow June 2nd 2018 to release their new EP 'Rise Above' with support from Landslides, Century Thirteen and Finding Argyle who are all local bands and have all performed with Take Today before. As people were walking into the venue, the bands were getting ready to perform and Ross McClenaghan (merch guy) was setting up the Take Today merch at the back of the venue. Most people were at the bar before the bands started sue to the heat that night. The gig started at 7pm. The opening band 'Landslides' kicked things off with a few of their songs and there was already a good few people at the front watching the performance. However there was feedback from the mics which isn't the bands fault as this happened throughout the night. People enjoyed the bands performance and it was a good opening band. Next up was Century Thirteen who I've seen once before. The band done really well and performed a few of their songs. This ba

Janet Gardner Gig Review

Image
When arriving in Edinburgh I made my way towards Bannerman's bar where the gig was to take place. I arrived around 5:30pm making sure I knew where the gig was located. I walked into Bannerman's bar and headed to the venue where the bands would be playing to find both bands setting up their equipment in a cavern looking hall. The hall was covered in brickwork with an arch in the middle, looking old but very cool. Housing around 100-200 people the hall is relatively small. Upon entering the room I found Janet Gardner and husband Justin James talking to the sound engineer about an American drum tech equipment which in turn would end up blowing up upon being plugged in and delaying the concert as the band had to find a replacement quickly. I went for dinner and came back around 6:30 for a drink and to wait for the concert to start. As the bands arrived I noticed Tim chambers the bassist for Sister shotgun who I had met at a concert in Glasgow when he was filling in for Scarle

Mallen Interview

Image
1. What or who inspired you to play the genre of music that you play? We all have a variety of inspirations when it comes to the music we play, this varies from Alter Bridge, Slash, Metallica, Foo Fighters, Thin Lizzy, Don Broco, Bring Me The Horizon, Tonight Alive and many more. We love that we don't have a set direction in sound so we can kind of mash together our influences and see what songs we the end product is.  2. What's your live set up? Our live set up consists of 5 member: Vocals, 2 Guitars, Bass and Drums. 3. Is there any places in particular that you'd like to tour? We would love to tour around the USA, as there are so many Iconic venues in LA, Seattle where bands have etched their names into the history books.  To be able to play the same stages we know our musical icons have over the many years would be a dream come true. Japan would also be amazing as is also supposed as the fans are really dedicated to the bands they love. 4. Ho
