Sumo Cyco at the Audio Glasgow

Sumo Cyco returned to Glasgow on the 20th March with Skarlett Riot. Joining them was Altered Sky for the night. A great female fronted lineup that people love and that you don't actually get that often.

Myself and David arrived at the audio around 4 o'clock and found Danny Oglesby outside who talked to us for a bit as well as Tim from Sister Shotgun who stood in as bassist for Skarlett Riot most of the tour. We later talked to Chloe Drinkwater for a bit and talked about the tour so far.

We heard Sumo Cyco and Skarlett Riot soundcheck which sounded amazing. We heard Skye singing a bit of 'I will always love you' by Whitney Houston and added a bit of metal to it. Whitney Houston turns metal. One of the best things about the gig is that the bands are always so approachable and don't mind talking to people and getting pictures.

When the show got underway it started off with Altered Sky who played chilling music as they walked onto the stage and went into their first song which was a new song. The band played 3 new songs from their upcoming album as well as 3 songs from their first album 'Without Wonderland'. The new songs were "Monster", "The Fall" and "Future" which is a working title at the moment. The other songs that were played were "White Witch", "Stupid In The Dark" and "Livewire". Three of myself and David's favourite songs. It was my 15th time seeing Altered Sky and David's first time seeing them. People said they loved Altered Sky's energetic performance and we agree!

As Altered Sky took their instruments away and Amy dismantled her kit Skarlett Riot came on stage to set up. They started off with their song 'Break' and played a few songs from their new album and they finished off by playing my favourite song 'warrior'. It was my first time seeing them and I loved the band and the energy they have. Tim who stood in for Martin done a really good job. The band also interacted with the crowd and tried to find the loudest side by getting them to cheer. Me being at the very front middle had to cheer for both sides so either way my side was better.

After another intermission the main event was ready and Sumo Cyco kicked off their set with one of my favourite songs 'Sleep Tight'. Their amazing show lasted over an hour with 12 songs including cover songs such as Red Hot Chilli Peppers 'Give it away'. I didn't know many of their songs but I quickly learned them. The band was very interactive, mostly the singer, Skye, by getting on Matt's shoulders to get to a table to being on fans shoulders. That's one great way to interact with the crowd as well as walk around the venue while singing.

Each band inspiring new and old fans with their energy, confidence and music vibes, oh and positive vibes. At the end of the gig, the bands stayed around at their merch tables to get photos with fans and for fans to buy merch. It was an amazing night and I'd definitely see the bands live again next time they come to Glasgow.
